ZenCart & OS Commerce
ZenCart, built on OS Commerce, is our primary choice for deploying an e-commerce solution. It's free, its developer base is wide, and module capabilities are strong. The beauty of ZenCart is that we can also build your website pages without using its e-comm engine. This scenario may occur for a business that may want to get a website up and running now and then move into the e-commerce arena at a later stage.

Ubercart
This free and open source solution is a strong partner to your Drupal website. Ubercart is built on Drupal and is quickly becoming a standard-bearer for Drupal-based e-commerce. Most anything ZenCart and the other big players can do Ubercart can also do.

Miva
Miva is a good solution for businesses that want an extra layer of top-down support through a 3rd party business. Its platform is more akin to the Microsoft model where there is a bundled update service through a centralized distribution network. However, application of updates is not automatic and must applied manually. Miva is proprietary and earns revenue through licensing.

Most of these popular carts have modules for expansion of capabilities. Many open source carts offer modules for free (e.g., ZenCart) but most Miva mods cost money.
